My Approach
Purpose first. Experience follows.
I believe meaningful events begin with a clear intention. My approach is to understand who the experience is for and why it matters, then translate that purpose into thoughtful choices — from the atmosphere and interactions to the smallest operational details.
Planned events are spatial–temporal phenomena, and each is unique.
Donald Getz
Leicester City Council
Where events become part of a city.
Leicester City Council is the local authority responsible for public services and community life across the city. Its Festivals & Events team delivers large-scale cultural, civic and community events throughout the year.
Working within the Festivals & Events team gave me first-hand experience of delivering large-scale public events in a diverse urban environment. From cultural celebrations and community festivals to major live productions, I supported the coordination behind experiences that needed to be creative, accessible, operationally strong and responsive to different audiences.
Selected Events
Large-scale events I've helped bring to life.
-

Kasabian — Summer Solstice II
Kasabian's highly anticipated homecoming concert at Victoria Park, delivered through close collaboration between Leicester City Council and Live Nation.
My contribution: supported planning and coordination over several months — permits, contractual documentation, transport logistics and operational planning. On event day, I supported the Event Control Room alongside emergency services, security teams and field producers to maintain effective communication and the safe delivery of the event.

-

Diwali Festival
One of the largest Diwali celebrations outside India, welcoming over 50,000 attendees each year and celebrating Leicester's rich cultural diversity.
My contribution: as part of the Festivals & Events team at Leicester City Council, I supported planning and on-site delivery — the Event Control Room alongside emergency services and partner organisations, on-site production and operations, tabletop planning exercises, event concept development, and coordinating permits and key documentation for a safe, seamless experience.

-

Riverside Festival
One of the city's largest free outdoor events, bringing thousands together for a weekend of live music, performances, food, sports and family activities along the River Soar.
My contribution: supported planning and delivery with a focus on sponsorship and community engagement — developing sponsorship initiatives with De Montfort University, proposing student-led marketing ideas and promotional campaigns, supporting stakeholder collaboration, and contributing to the visitor engagement strategy.

-

Abbey Park Bonfire & Fireworks Display
Leicester's largest annual Bonfire & Fireworks Display, welcoming thousands for an evening of live entertainment, family activities and one of the city's most anticipated fireworks celebrations.
My contribution: gained experience in ticketing operations, sales processes and the commercial aspects of delivering a large-scale public event. On event day, I worked alongside the field production team, gaining first-hand insight into the role of a field producer and the execution of large-scale events.

What I Learned
Large-scale events taught me that successful coordination goes far beyond logistics.
Our dreams and responsibilities may have no limits, but must be balanced according to the music of the moment.
